Possible Causes
Loose display board connector, damaged communication harness, oxidized connector pins, failed display PCB, failed main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before opening the control panel.
Steps:
- Check for simple reset: Unplug for 10 minutes, then reconnect. If E5 persists, proceed.
- Access control panel: Remove screws securing the top/front control panel. Carefully lift it to expose the display PCB and wiring.
- Inspect connectors: Locate the multi‑pin connector between the display PCB and the main PCB. Reseat both ends several times to wipe oxidation from the pins.
- Check harness: Look for pinched or broken wires in the harness bundle. Repair or replace if damaged.
- Visual inspection of PCBs: Look for burn marks, cracked solder joints at the connector, or corrosion. If present, the affected PCB should be replaced.
- Board substitution: If available, replace the display PCB first (usually easier and cheaper). If E5 remains, replace the main control PCB.
Warning: Do not attempt to repair PCB tracks or components unless you are qualified; incorrect repair can create a fire hazard.
