Possible Causes

Failed DC fan motor, blocked fan wheel, disconnected fan motor harness, faulty fan driver circuit on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit. Fan blades are sharp; wear gloves.

Steps:

  • Check for obstruction: Remove the air filter and look into the fan area. Remove any plastic bags, debris, or ice that may be blocking the fan.
  • Spin test: Gently spin the fan wheel by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. If stiff or noisy, the motor bearings may be failing.
  • Access fan motor: Remove the front/rear cover as required to expose the fan motor and wheel. Inspect the motor harness and connector to the main PCB; reseat firmly.
  • Voltage check (for technicians): With the unit powered and calling for fan, measure the supply voltage to the fan motor (often DC 12–24 V on Mitsubishi Electric units). If voltage is present but the fan does not run, the motor is faulty.
  • Replace motor: Remove the fan wheel (loosen set screw or clip) and unbolt the motor. Install a new indoor fan motor and reassemble.
  • If no voltage to motor: The main control PCB fan driver is likely defective and should be replaced.
