Dehumidifier emits a musty or moldy smell when running.

Steps:

• Clean tank: Empty the water tank and wash it with warm water and mild detergent. Disinfect with a solution of water and a small amount of household bleach, then rinse thoroughly.
• Clean filter: Wash or replace the air filter.
• Coil cleaning: With the unit unplugged, spray a non-rinse evaporator coil cleaner suitable for air conditioners onto the evaporator coil. Allow it to work as directed.
• Drying run: After cleaning, run the unit in fan-only mode (if available) for 30–60 minutes to help dry internal surfaces.
• Regular maintenance: Empty the tank daily and clean it weekly to prevent odors.
