Possible Causes

Overheated compressor, Blocked air filter or airflow, Low refrigerant charge, Faulty high-temperature sensor or thermal protector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off and unplug the unit. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system yourself.

Steps:

  • Check ambient conditions: Ensure the dehumidifier is used within the specified temperature range (typically 5–35°C). Very low or high room temperatures can trigger E4.
  • Clean air filter and grilles: Remove the air filter, wash with mild soap and water, dry completely, and reinstall. Vacuum the intake and exhaust grilles.
  • Ensure clearance: Maintain at least 20–30 cm clearance around the unit for proper airflow.
  • Inspect for overheating: After cooling for 30 minutes, check if the compressor area feels excessively hot. Overheating may indicate blocked airflow or internal compressor issues.
  • Check evaporator/condenser coils: With covers removed (if you are comfortable), gently clean dust from coils using a soft brush. Avoid bending fins.
  • Sensor/thermal protector: Some Orbegozo models have a thermal protector or NTC on the compressor discharge line. Inspect wiring and connectors for damage.
  • Professional service: If E4 recurs after cleaning and ensuring proper conditions, the unit may have a refrigerant or compressor problem that requires an authorized technician.
