Possible Causes
Faulty fan motor tachometer output, Blocked fan, Loose tach wire to PCB, Defective main PCB fan control circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect from mains before accessing the fan.
Steps:
- Clean fan and filter: Remove dust from the air filter and fan wheel. Obstructions can cause incorrect speed feedback.
- Check fan rotation: Spin the fan by hand to ensure it moves freely.
- Inspect tach wire: Some fan motors have a third wire for speed feedback. Ensure this wire and connector are intact and firmly seated on the PCB.
- Replace fan motor: If the motor is noisy, slow, or the tach output is missing (check with a technician or oscilloscope), replace the fan motor assembly.
- PCB replacement: If a new motor does not resolve F1, the main PCB fan control circuit may be defective.
