Safety first: Unplug the humidifier before cleaning. Do not operate without water.

Check water level: Ensure the tank is full and properly seated on the base.
Descale transducer: For ultrasonic models, gently clean the metal transducer disc with a soft cloth and white vinegar to remove mineral deposits. Do not scratch the surface.
Replace wick filter: For evaporative models, replace the wick if it is stiff, discolored, or has heavy scale.
Clear mist outlet: Check the mist nozzle and outlet for blockages and clean with a soft brush.

Humidifier (Panasonic room humidifier) runs but produces little or no visible mist.
