Possible Causes

Stuck float in water tank, Faulty water level micro-switch, Disconnected or broken float switch wiring, Defective water level sensor on PCB (for electronic level detection)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing the water tank or accessing internal parts.

  • Empty and reseat tank: Remove the water tank, empty it completely, clean any slime or scale, and reinstall it firmly to ensure the tank switch is engaged.
  • Check float movement: Inside the tank or tank compartment, locate the float. Move it up and down by hand to ensure it is not jammed by dirt or mineral deposits. Clean as needed.
  • Inspect the switch: For mechanical float switches, verify that the float arm properly actuates the micro-switch. Listen for a click when moving the float.
  • Check wiring: Ensure the float switch wires are intact and the connector is firmly attached to the control board.

If E5 persists after cleaning and confirming float movement, the float switch or electronic level sensor may need replacement. If you are not comfortable with electrical testing, have a technician perform continuity tests and replace the faulty component.
