Safety: If you smell strong burning or see smoke, unplug the unit immediately and do not continue to operate it.

Steps to investigate odor:

Initial use: A mild odor during the first few hours of use can be normal as manufacturing residues burn off. This should dissipate quickly.
Inspect wiring: Remove panels and visually inspect wiring harnesses, connectors, and the main PCB for signs of melting or burn marks.
Check fan motor: Smell near the fan motor. If the odor is strongest there and the motor housing is very hot, replace the fan motor assembly.
Compressor area: Inspect the compressor start relay and wiring for discoloration or melted plastic. Replace if damaged.
Do not ignore persistent burning smell: If you cannot identify and correct the source, discontinue use and contact a qualified technician.
