Steps to diagnose compressor not starting:

• Confirm settings: Ensure the humidity setpoint is below the current room humidity and that the unit is not in defrost or standby mode.
• Listen for compressor: When the unit calls for dehumidification, you should hear a low hum and feel vibration from the compressor. If you only hear the fan, continue.
• Access compressor: Remove the rear or side panel to expose the compressor and its electrical components.
• Inspect start relay and overload: Remove the plastic cover on the compressor terminals. Check the start relay and overload protector for burn marks or melted plastic.
• Test components: If you have a multimeter, test the relay and overload for continuity according to their specifications. Replace if open or shorted.
• Replace start components: Install a new Pro Breeze compressor start relay and overload protector if the originals are suspect.
• Control board check: If the compressor still does not receive power (no voltage at compressor terminals when it should be running), the main control PCB relay may be faulty and require replacement.
• Compressor failure: If the compressor draws locked-rotor current and trips protection repeatedly, it may be mechanically seized. This requires professional sealed system service or unit replacement.
