Possible Causes

Open or shorted ambient temperature sensor (NTC), Damaged sensor wiring harness, Corroded sensor connector on main PCB, Failed main control board sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dehumidifier before removing any covers. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to mains power.

Steps to check and address E1:

  • Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in and try to start it. Sometimes E1 is a temporary logic error.
  • Access the control area: Remove the front or top cover (on most Pro Breeze dehumidifiers, the control panel is on the top). Remove screws around the control panel and gently lift it to expose the wiring.
  • Locate the ambient temperature sensor: Look for a small probe or bead-type NTC sensor attached near the air intake grille or evaporator coil, connected by two thin wires to the main PCB.
  • Inspect wiring and connector: Check for broken, pinched, or chewed wires, loose plugs, or corrosion on the connector. Reseat the connector firmly on the main PCB.
  • Check sensor resistance (if you have a multimeter): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance across the two leads. At room temperature (20–25°C / 68–77°F), most NTC sensors should read between roughly 5–20 kΩ. If it reads open (OL) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is defective.
  • Replace the sensor if faulty: Order a compatible Pro Breeze ambient temperature sensor (NTC) for your exact model. Remove the old sensor (usually clipped or taped to the coil or intake), route the new sensor wiring the same way, and plug it into the same PCB connector.
  • If E1 persists: After confirming the sensor and wiring are good, the fault may be on the main control PCB. Replacement of the board is more advanced and may be best handled by a qualified technician.
