Possible Causes
Defective evaporator temperature sensor (coil NTC), Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Failed sensor input circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect the dehumidifier from power before opening the cabinet. Sharp metal edges may be present around the coil area; wear cut-resistant gloves.
Steps to resolve E2:
- Reset the unit: Unplug for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect and test. If E2 returns, continue.
- Access the evaporator area: Remove the front or side panels to expose the evaporator coil (the cold aluminum finned coil behind the air intake filter).
- Locate the coil sensor: Find the small NTC sensor clipped or taped directly to the evaporator tubing or fins, with two wires leading back to the main PCB.
- Check sensor placement: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil. If it has fallen off, re-clip or re-tape it securely to the coil surface.
- Inspect wiring: Look for cuts, pinches, or pulled wires. Verify the connector is fully seated on the PCB.
- Test the sensor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature, it should show a stable resistance (commonly 5–20 kΩ). Infinite or near-zero resistance indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace if defective: Install a new Pro Breeze evaporator temperature sensor (coil NTC), routing the wires away from the fan blades and reattaching it firmly to the coil.
- If E2 remains: The main control PCB may not be reading the sensor correctly and may need replacement. Consider professional service for PCB diagnosis and replacement.
