Possible Causes
Fan motor tachometer signal missing, Fan motor running at incorrect speed, Loose fan motor connector, Faulty main PCB fan control circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before working near the fan.
Steps to troubleshoot F1:
- Check for obstructions: Inspect the fan through the grille for any foreign objects. Remove debris with the unit unplugged.
- Access fan motor: Remove the rear or side panel to expose the fan motor assembly and wiring.
- Inspect wiring: Ensure the multi-wire connector from the fan motor (often 3–5 wires including tach signal) is fully seated on the PCB.
- Spin test: Manually spin the fan blade. If it is stiff or noisy, the motor bearings may be failing; replace the motor.
- Replace fan motor: Install a new Pro Breeze fan motor assembly with tachometer output if the existing motor does not start reliably or runs at erratic speed.
- PCB diagnosis: If a known-good motor still triggers F1, the main control PCB may not be reading the tach signal correctly and may need replacement.
