Possible Causes
Evaporator coil temperature below operating threshold, Room temperature too low for normal operation, Frost buildup on evaporator coil, Faulty evaporator temperature sensor reading low
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: On many Pro Breeze dehumidifiers, P1 is an informational code indicating the unit is in defrost mode, not a failure.
Steps to handle P1:
- Check room temperature: Ensure the room is within the specified operating range (typically above 5°C / 41°F). If the room is too cold, move the unit to a warmer area.
- Allow defrost cycle: If the unit has been running in a cool, damp space, P1 may appear while the coil defrosts. Leave the unit plugged in and allow 10–20 minutes for the cycle to complete.
- Inspect for ice: If safe to do so, unplug the unit and remove the front panel to check the evaporator coil. If heavily iced, allow it to fully thaw before restarting.
- Improve airflow: Clean the air filter and ensure adequate clearance around the unit to reduce icing.
- Sensor check: If P1 never clears even in a warm room, the evaporator temperature sensor may be misreading. Inspect and test the sensor as described under E2, and replace if defective.
