Possible Causes
Room temperature below minimum operating range, Evaporator sensor detecting risk of freezing, Faulty evaporator temperature sensor, Control board misinterpreting sensor data
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: P3 often indicates the unit is protecting itself from operating in too cold an environment.
Steps to handle P3:
- Measure room temperature: Use a thermometer to confirm the room is above the minimum operating temperature listed in the manual (commonly 5–10°C / 41–50°F). If not, move the unit to a warmer space.
- Allow warm-up: If the unit was stored in a cold area, bring it indoors and let it sit unplugged for 1–2 hours to reach room temperature before use.
- Check evaporator sensor: If P3 appears even in a warm room, inspect the evaporator temperature sensor for proper attachment and wiring (see E2). Replace if readings are out of range.
- Control board: If sensor replacement does not clear P3, the main control PCB may be faulty and require replacement.
