Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the compressor compartment. Capacitors can hold a charge; avoid contact with terminals.

• Check power supply: Ensure the dehumidifier is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a long extension cord or power strip that may cause voltage drop.
• Listen for compressor: When the unit calls for dehumidification, listen for a click and a low hum. If it hums briefly then clicks off repeatedly, the start components may be failing.
• Inspect start relay and overload: With the unit unplugged, remove the compressor terminal cover. Check the start relay and overload protector for signs of burning or cracking.
• Replace start components: If available for your model, replace the compressor start relay and overload with OEM parts. Reconnect exactly as originally wired.
• Compressor failure: If new start components do not resolve the issue, the compressor itself is likely defective. This requires sealed-system service and is usually not cost-effective on small units.
