Possible Causes

Blocked ventilation openings, Internal dust buildup on heat-dissipating components, Failing power adapter or internal regulator, Operating unit in confined space

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit immediately if it becomes very hot or emits a burning smell. Do not continue to operate a suspected overheating device.

  • Improve ventilation: Move the humidifier to an open area with several inches of clearance on all sides. Do not cover vents.
  • Clean vents: Vacuum dust from intake and exhaust vents on the base and sides.
  • Check adapter temperature: For external adapters, feel the adapter after 30 minutes of use. Warm is normal; too hot to touch is not. Replace with a correct-spec adapter if overheating.
  • Internal inspection: If comfortable, open the base (unplugged) and check for dust buildup on the main PCB and heat sinks. Gently blow out dust with compressed air.
  • Discontinue use if overheating persists: Continued overheating indicates a failing internal component. Replacement of the main PCB or the entire unit is recommended.
