Possible Causes

Damaged or missing tank cap O-ring, Cracked water tank, Debris stuck in spring-loaded tank valve, Overfilling or tilting the unit during use

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the humidifier immediately if water is leaking near electrical parts. Dry the area before further inspection.

  • Remove and inspect tank: Take off the water tank and dry the base. Fill the tank at the sink and check for drips from the cap or seams while holding it over the sink.
  • Check cap and O-ring: Unscrew the tank cap and inspect the rubber O-ring or gasket. If it is cracked, stretched, or missing, replace it. Clean any debris from the sealing surfaces.
  • Inspect tank valve: Press the spring-loaded valve (if present) to ensure it moves freely and closes fully. Rinse under running water to clear debris.
  • Check for cracks: Examine the tank for hairline cracks, especially around the handle and bottom. Replace the tank if any cracks are found.
  • Level placement: Place the humidifier on a flat, level surface. Do not move or tilt the unit while the tank is installed and full.
  • Base inspection: If water appears from inside the base even with a good tank, internal seals or the reservoir may be cracked. This typically requires base replacement or unit replacement.
