Possible Causes
Overheated compressor, blocked condenser coil, failed condenser fan motor, low or high refrigerant charge, defective overload protector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. The compressor and coils can be very hot.
- Improve ventilation: Ensure at least 20–30 cm clearance around all sides and that the unit is not placed against a wall or inside a closet.
- Clean filters and coils: Remove and wash the air filter. If accessible, vacuum dust from the condenser coil (the warm coil) and fan blades.
- Allow cooling: Let the unit sit unplugged for 1–2 hours to allow the compressor to cool, then retry.
- Check fan operation: When you restart, confirm the fan runs at full speed. If the fan is slow or not running, the compressor will overheat and trigger E3.
- If E3 returns quickly: There may be a sealed-system or compressor fault. Do not attempt to open the refrigerant circuit yourself; contact a qualified refrigeration technician.
