Possible Causes
Failed fan motor, Seized fan bearings, Faulty fan capacitor (if external), Defective fan driver circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before accessing the fan and internal wiring.
Steps:
- Check for obstructions: Ensure nothing is blocking the fan blades.
- Spin test: Try spinning the fan by hand. If stiff, replace the fan motor assembly.
- Capacitor (if fitted): Some motors use an external run capacitor. Inspect for bulging or leakage and replace with the same µF rating if faulty.
- Voltage test: With appropriate safety precautions, a technician can measure voltage at the fan motor terminals when the unit is on. If voltage is present but the motor does not run, replace the motor. If no voltage, suspect the main control PCB.
