Possible Causes
Dirty air filter restricting airflow, Low refrigerant charge, Iced‑up evaporator due to sensor or airflow issues, Room temperature too low for effective operation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before cleaning or opening panels.
Steps:
- Check environment: Ensure doors and windows are closed. Verify room temperature is within the unit's operating range (typically above 5–10°C).
- Clean filter: Remove and wash the air filter. Dry completely before reinstalling.
- Inspect coils: Remove the cover and check the evaporator coil for heavy dust or ice buildup. Clean dust with a soft brush and vacuum. If iced, allow to fully defrost and then restart.
- Check fan speed: Ensure the fan is running at normal speed. A weak fan motor reduces performance.
- Refrigerant issues: If the compressor runs but the evaporator does not get uniformly cold, the sealed system may be low on refrigerant. This requires a refrigeration technician.
