Possible Causes
Failed fan motor, Obstructed fan blade, Faulty fan speed feedback sensor (Hall sensor) if fitted, Loose fan motor connector on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the fan area. Beware of sharp metal edges.
Steps:
- Check for obstructions: Remove the front or rear cover to access the fan. Look for plastic bags, insulation, or debris caught in the fan blades. Remove any obstruction.
- Spin test: With power off, spin the fan by hand. It should rotate freely without scraping. If stiff or seized, the fan motor is likely faulty.
- Reconnect wiring: Ensure the fan motor plug is fully inserted into the main PCB socket. Check for damaged wires.
- Power test: Reassemble enough to run the unit safely. Turn it on and observe whether the fan starts. If the fan hums but does not turn, or does not start at all, replace the fan motor.
- Replace fan motor: Remove the mounting screws and transfer the fan blade to the new Russell Hobbs fan motor assembly. Reinstall and ensure correct rotation direction.
- PCB issue: If a new fan motor does not run and E8 persists, the fan drive circuit on the main control PCB may be defective and require replacement.
