Possible Causes

Blocked continuous drain hose, Kinked or elevated drain hose, Internal condensate pump (if equipped) failure, Blocked internal drain channel from evaporator to tank

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before working on the drain system. Water may spill; protect flooring.

Steps:

  • Check drain hose: If using continuous drain, ensure the hose is not kinked, blocked, or routed uphill. The outlet must be lower than the drain connection on the unit.
  • Flush hose: Disconnect the hose and run water through it to clear any sludge or scale.
  • Inspect drain spout: Check the plastic drain spout on the back or side of the unit for blockages. Clean with a small brush or pipe cleaner.
  • Clean internal drain channel: Remove the water tank and look for the small drain hole or channel from the evaporator tray into the tank. Use a cotton bud or flexible brush to clear any buildup.
  • Internal pump (if fitted): Some Russell Hobbs dehumidifiers with built‑in pumps may trigger P2 if the pump fails. Listen for pump operation when the unit runs. If silent and water accumulates, the condensate pump may need replacement.
