Dehumidifier stops and displays E2; fan may still run briefly

Safety: Disconnect the Sencor dehumidifier from power before removing covers. Sharp metal edges may be present around the coil.

Steps:

• Access the evaporator: Remove the front or side housing to expose the evaporator coil (cold coil behind the air filter). The evaporator NTC sensor is usually clipped or taped to the coil tubing.
• Inspect the sensor: Look for a small probe or bead sensor attached to the coil with two wires leading back to the main PCB. Check for corrosion, broken insulation, or a sensor that has fallen off the coil.
• Check connection: Follow the wires to the PCB and reseat the connector. Clean any visible oxidation with contact cleaner and a soft brush.
• Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor from the board and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature, it should be in the kΩ range (similar to the ambient sensor). An open circuit or near-zero reading indicates a bad sensor.
• Replace sensor: If faulty, install a new Sencor evaporator NTC sensor assembly. Attach it firmly to the same coil location to ensure proper frost detection.
• Check PCB if needed: If a new sensor does not clear E2, the main control PCB may be defective and should be replaced as a complete module.

Note: Do not bend or puncture the refrigerant tubing while working around the evaporator.
