Possible Causes

Blocked fan blades by dust or foreign object, Failed fan motor on Sencor SDH series, Faulty fan speed sensor (tachometer) on motor, Loose fan motor connector on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the dehumidifier before working near the fan. Fan blades can be sharp.

Steps:

  • Check for obstructions: Remove the rear or side cover to access the fan. Clear any debris, plastic bags, or wiring that may be interfering with the fan blades.
  • Spin test: Rotate the fan by hand. It should move freely without scraping. If stiff or noisy, the motor bearings may be worn.
  • Inspect wiring: Verify the fan motor connector is fully seated on the main PCB and that wires are not damaged.
  • Power-on observation (caution): Reassemble enough to run safely, plug in, and start the unit. Observe whether the fan starts reliably. If it hums but does not spin, the motor is likely failing.
  • Replace fan motor: Install a new Sencor fan motor assembly compatible with your model, transferring the fan blade if necessary. Ensure correct rotation direction.
  • PCB issue: If a known-good motor does not run and E8 persists, the fan drive circuit on the main PCB may be defective and require replacement.

Tip: Regularly clean the air filter to reduce dust accumulation on the fan and motor.
