Possible Causes
Blocked air outlet, Fan not running or running slowly, Failed thermal fuse or temperature sensor on heater (for warm-mist models), Excessive scale on heating element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before inspection. Hot surfaces can cause burns.
Steps:
- Check airflow: Ensure the air outlet and intake are not blocked. Clean any dust from grilles.
- Inspect fan: Confirm the fan runs properly (see F4 procedure). A non-functioning fan can trigger overheat protection.
- Descale heater (if applicable): For warm-mist Sencor humidifiers, remove the heating chamber and descale the element with white vinegar according to the user manual.
- Check thermal fuse/sensor: Access the heater assembly and locate the thermal fuse or temperature sensor. Test continuity with a multimeter. Replace if open or out of specification.
Warning: Do not bypass or short the thermal fuse; it is a critical safety device.
