Possible Causes
Bacterial or mold growth in water tank, Dirty base reservoir, Old stagnant water, Dirty filter or wick (for evaporative models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the humidifier and empty the water tank.
Steps:
- Deep clean tank: Wash the tank with warm water and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly. Disinfect with a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 3 parts water; let sit 20 minutes, then rinse.
- Clean base: Wipe the base reservoir and all water-contact surfaces with vinegar solution. Avoid soaking electrical components.
- Replace wick/filter: If your Sencor model uses a wick or filter, replace it according to the manual.
- Use fresh water: Always refill with fresh, preferably distilled water. Empty the tank if the unit will not be used for more than a day.
