Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing any internal boards.
Steps:
- Check for moisture: Inspect the control panel area for signs of water ingress or condensation, which can cause communication faults.
- Access control boards: Remove the top/control panel cover to expose the display PCB, then remove the rear or side panel to access the main control PCB.
- Inspect harness: Locate the multi-wire harness connecting the display PCB to the main PCB. Check for pinched, cut, or abraded wires.
- Reseat connectors: Disconnect the harness at both ends, inspect pins for corrosion or bending, then reconnect firmly.
- Visual inspection: Look for burn marks or cracked solder joints on both PCBs, especially near the connector area.
- Board substitution: If available, swapping in a known-good display PCB or main control PCB can isolate the faulty board.
When to seek service: If reseating the harness does not clear E6, one of the boards is likely defective. Board-level repair is not recommended for DIY; replace the entire PCB assembly or contact a Sharp-authorized service center.
