Possible Causes
Corrupted firmware or EEPROM on main control PCB, power surge damage, failed microcontroller on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before any disassembly.
Steps:
- Power reset: Unplug for at least 15 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge, then plug back in. Sometimes transient memory errors clear.
- Check power quality: Avoid using long, undersized extension cords or sharing outlets with heavy loads that cause voltage drops.
- Inspect PCB: Remove the rear panel to access the main control PCB. Look for burn marks, cracked components, or signs of moisture damage.
- Surge protection: If the error appeared after a storm or outage, the board may have been surge-damaged. Future use should be through a surge protector.
- Replace PCB: There is no field repair for corrupted EEPROM on these boards. Replace the main control PCB with a Sharp OEM part for your exact model.
Note: Board replacement involves transferring all connectors one-by-one to the new board. Take photos before removal to ensure correct reconnection.
