Possible Causes
Open or shorted compressor temperature sensor, sensor detached from compressor shell, damaged sensor harness, failed sensor input on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. The compressor can be very hot; allow cooling before touching.
Steps:
- Access compressor: Remove rear or side panel to expose the compressor.
- Locate sensor: The compressor temperature sensor is usually a small probe or disc clipped or strapped to the compressor shell.
- Check attachment: Ensure the sensor is firmly in contact with the compressor. Re-secure with the original clip or high-temperature tape if loose.
- Inspect wiring: Look for cuts or burns on the sensor wires. Reseat the connector at the main PCB.
- Test sensor: Use a multimeter to check resistance. An open or short reading indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace sensor: Install a new compressor temperature sensor if faulty.
- PCB issue: If the sensor is good but F3 persists, the main control PCB may need replacement.
