Possible Causes

Misaligned water bucket, stuck bucket float, faulty bucket full switch, defective water level sensor on pump tray, wiring issue to main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before removing the bucket.

Steps:

  • Empty and reseat bucket: Remove the water bucket, empty it completely, and reinstall it firmly so it engages the internal switch or magnet.
  • Check float: Inspect the float inside the bucket (if present) and ensure it moves freely. Clean any slime or mineral buildup.
  • Bucket switch: Locate the bucket full switch inside the cabinet where the bucket slides in. Press it manually; you should hear a click. If it is loose or broken, it must be replaced.
  • Magnetic sensor: Some Sharp models use a reed switch and magnet. Ensure the magnet on the bucket is intact and aligned with the sensor.
  • Wiring: Inspect the switch wiring to the main PCB for damage and reseat the connector.

Replace the bucket full switch or level sensor if it does not change state when actuated. If P1 persists with a known-good switch, the main PCB input may be faulty.
