Possible Causes

Open or shorted ambient NTC sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Corroded connector on main PCB, Failed main control board sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dehumidifier before opening any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to mains power.

  • Power reset: Unplug the unit for 10–15 minutes, then plug back in and try again. Sometimes E1 is a transient sensor reading error.
  • Check sensor location: On Stadler Form dehumidifiers, the room temperature sensor (NTC) is usually clipped near the air intake grille or on the evaporator inlet tube. Remove the front or side cover per the user manual and visually inspect the small bead or probe sensor with two thin wires.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the main control board. Look for pinched, cut, or chewed wires, loose plugs, or corrosion on the connector. Reseat the connector firmly.
  • Test the sensor: With a multimeter set to resistance (kΩ), measure across the two sensor leads. At room temperature (20–25°C), most Stadler Form NTC sensors should read between roughly 5–20 kΩ (exact value depends on model). If the reading is infinite (open) or near 0 Ω (short), the sensor is defective.
  • Replace if faulty: If the NTC is bad, replace it with a Stadler Form-compatible ambient temperature sensor (check your model’s parts list). Route the new sensor in the same position and clip it securely so it senses incoming air.
  • Control board check: If the sensor tests good but E1 persists, the sensor input circuit on the main PCB may be faulty. Inspect the board for burn marks or corrosion. Replacement of the main control board is typically required and is best done by a qualified technician.
