Possible Causes
Defective evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Broken sensor harness, Failed main PCB sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing covers. Avoid touching sharp metal fins on the evaporator.
- Access the evaporator: Remove the front or rear housing to expose the evaporator coil (cold coil). The evaporator sensor is usually clipped or taped to the coil tubing.
- Check sensor placement: Ensure the sensor probe is firmly attached to the coil surface or copper tube. If it has fallen off, reattach it using aluminum tape or the original clip so it makes good thermal contact.
- Inspect wiring: Trace the sensor wires back to the control board. Look for damage, pulled connectors, or corrosion. Reseat the plug.
- Measure resistance: Use a multimeter to measure the NTC resistance at room temperature. Compare with the ambient sensor if they are the same type; they should be in a similar range. An open or shorted reading indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace sensor: Install a Stadler Form-compatible evaporator NTC sensor if defective. Route the wires away from the fan blades and secure them with cable ties.
- Board diagnosis: If a known-good sensor still triggers E2, the main PCB may not be reading the sensor correctly. Replacement of the control board is recommended; consult Stadler Form support or a service technician.
