Possible Causes
Blocked condenser coil, Failed condenser fan motor, High ambient temperature, Weak compressor start capacitor or overload protector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing panels. The compressor and capacitor can retain charge; avoid touching terminals directly.
- Ventilation check: Ensure the dehumidifier is at least 20–30 cm away from walls or furniture and not placed in a confined cabinet. High ambient temperature and poor ventilation can cause E5.
- Clean condenser: Remove the rear or side cover to access the condenser coil (warm coil). Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint. Do not use high-pressure water.
- Verify fan operation: Power the unit briefly (with covers safely in place) and confirm the fan runs at normal speed. If the fan is slow or not running, unplug and inspect the fan motor and capacitor (if separate). Replace the fan motor if seized or noisy.
- Check start components: With power disconnected, inspect the compressor start relay/overload and capacitor (if used). Look for burn marks or bulging on the capacitor. Replace with a Stadler Form-specified value if defective.
- Cool-down period: Allow the unit to cool for at least 30–60 minutes before restarting. Some models will clear E5 automatically after a cool-down.
- Persistent E5: If E5 returns quickly, the compressor may be failing internally or the sealed system may be over-pressurizing. This requires a refrigeration technician; consider replacement if out of warranty.
