Possible Causes
Faulty main PCB, Loose display board ribbon cable, Corrupted firmware, Power surge damage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before opening the control panel. Avoid static discharge to electronic boards.
- Hard reset: Unplug the dehumidifier for at least 15 minutes. Press and hold the power button (if accessible) for 10 seconds while unplugged to discharge internal capacitors. Then reconnect and test.
- Inspect control connections: Remove the top or front control panel to access the display/control PCB. Check the ribbon cable or harness between the display board and main power board. Reseat both ends firmly.
- Look for damage: Examine both PCBs for burn marks, cracked solder joints, or corrosion (especially if the unit has been in a damp basement). Any visible damage usually means the board must be replaced.
- Surge protection: If E6 appeared after a power outage or lightning, the control board may be partially damaged. Future use should be through a surge protector.
- Replace PCB: If reseating cables does not clear E6, order the correct Stadler Form main control board or display board (depending on diagnosis) and swap it, transferring any wiring one connector at a time to avoid mistakes.
