Dehumidifier fan runs but compressor never starts (no cooling, no water collection)

Steps:

• Listen for attempts: When the unit calls for cooling, listen for a brief click or hum from the compressor. A click followed by silence may indicate a start problem.
• Access compressor components: Remove the rear panel to expose the compressor and its electrical box.
• Inspect start relay and capacitor: Look for burn marks, cracks, or bulging on the PTC relay and capacitor.
• Test capacitor: Measure capacitance and replace if out of spec.
• Replace start relay: Swap the compressor start relay with a Sunbeam-compatible part if it shows signs of failure.
• Compressor test: If start components are good but the compressor still does not start, the compressor or control board may be defective. Professional diagnosis is recommended.
