Possible Causes

Low refrigerant charge, Dirty evaporator or condenser coils, Failed compressor, Faulty evaporator temperature sensor causing premature shutdown

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug before cleaning or opening panels.

Steps:

  • Check environment: Ensure doors and windows are closed and the room size is within the unit's capacity.
  • Clean filter and coils: Wash the air filter. Vacuum dust from the evaporator (front) and condenser (rear) coils with a soft brush.
  • Observe coil behavior: After running for 15–20 minutes, check the evaporator coil. It should be cool and may have light, even condensation. Heavy ice buildup or completely dry, warm coils indicate a problem.
  • Listen to compressor: Confirm the compressor is running (a deeper humming sound). If only the fan runs, see compressor-related entries.
  • Sensor check: Test the evaporator temperature sensor as described under E2. Replace if faulty.
  • Professional diagnosis: If coils are clean, compressor runs, but no water is collected, the sealed system may be undercharged or restricted. Contact a refrigeration technician.
