Possible Causes

Low refrigerant charge, Blocked capillary tube, Failed compressor, Faulty evaporator temperature sensor misinterpreting cooling performance

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigerant system yourself.

Steps:

  • Basic checks: Ensure the unit is in a room within the specified temperature range and that doors/windows are closed.
  • Airflow: Clean the air filter and ensure vents are unobstructed.
  • Observe operation: Turn the unit on and listen for the compressor. If the compressor never starts, see the E5 entry. If it runs but no water is collected and EC appears, there may be a sealed system issue.
  • Sensor test: Test the evaporator temperature sensor as described under E2. Replace if faulty.
  • Professional service: If sensors and airflow are fine but EC persists, contact a refrigeration technician. Sealed system repairs often exceed the value of small dehumidifiers.
