Possible Causes
Seized fan motor, Obstructed fan blades, Loose fan motor connector, Failed fan driver on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the humidifier before removing covers.
Steps:
- Check for obstructions: Remove the top cover or grille and inspect the fan area. Remove any dust clumps, plastic, or foreign objects blocking the blades.
- Spin test: Gently spin the fan by hand. It should move freely. If stiff or noisy, the motor bearings may be worn.
- Inspect wiring: Access the fan motor and verify the connector is fully seated on the control board. Look for damaged or pinched wires.
- Test operation: Reassemble enough to run safely. Plug in and turn on. If the fan does not start and F3 appears, the motor is likely faulty.
- Replace fan motor: Remove the fan blade and unbolt the fan motor. Install a Sunbeam-compatible replacement, ensuring correct rotation direction and secure mounting.
- Control board: If a known-good motor does not run and F3 persists, the main control board may need replacement.
