High Humidity Indication / Humidity Sensor Out of Range
Dehumidifier display shows HI and runs continuously
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Extremely high room humidity, Faulty humidity sensor reading maximum, Sensor disconnected from control board, Moisture condensation on sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before accessing internal components.
Steps:
- Verify environment: Use a separate hygrometer to confirm actual room humidity. If humidity is indeed very high, allow the unit to run; HI is informational.
- Check for condensation: If the unit is in a very damp area, condensation can form on the humidity sensor. Turn off the unit and allow it to dry, or move it to a slightly drier area.
- Inspect sensor: If HI is displayed even in a dry room, remove the front grille and locate the humidity sensor. Ensure it is clean, dry, and properly connected.
- Replace sensor: If the sensor is connected but always reads HI, replace the humidity sensor assembly with a Sunbeam-compatible part.
