Dehumidifier shows E6 and will not respond to controls

Safety: Unplug the dehumidifier before opening the control panel. Avoid static discharge to the electronics; touch a grounded metal object first.

Steps:

• Power reset: Unplug for 5 minutes, then reconnect. If E6 returns immediately, proceed.
• Inspect control panel: Remove the top cover or front bezel to access the touch control/display board. Look for signs of moisture, condensation, or corrosion around the buttons and connectors.
• Check ribbon cable: Ensure the flat ribbon cable or harness between the display board and main PCB is fully seated at both ends. Gently disconnect and reconnect to clean contacts.
• Dry the panel: If moisture is present, carefully dry the area with a lint-free cloth and allow the unit to air dry for several hours in a warm, dry room before retesting.
• Visual inspection: Look for cracked solder joints on the display board, especially at the connector. If you see obvious damage, the board should be replaced.
• Replace faulty board: If reseating cables does not clear E6, replace the TaoTronics control panel/display PCB. If the error persists even with a new panel, the main control PCB is likely defective.
