Possible Causes

Low refrigerant charge due to leak in evaporator or condenser, Blocked capillary tube or expansion device, Faulty evaporator temperature sensor misreading, Main PCB detecting abnormal compressor run conditions

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit. Do not attempt to cut or open refrigerant lines; this requires certified service.

Steps:

  • Check ambient and airflow: Ensure the unit is used within the specified temperature range and that filters and coils are clean. Poor airflow can mimic low refrigerant symptoms.
  • Observe coil behavior: With covers removed, run the unit and observe the evaporator coil. If only a small section frosts or cools while the rest stays warm, this often indicates low refrigerant or a restriction.
  • Sensor verification: Confirm the evaporator NTC sensor is properly attached and reading correctly (see E2). A bad sensor can falsely trigger EC.
  • Professional service: If airflow and sensors are fine and EC persists, the sealed system likely has a leak or charge issue. Contact a professional refrigeration technician; they can leak-test, repair, evacuate, and recharge the system. In many compact dehumidifiers, sealed system repair may not be cost-effective compared to replacement.
