P1
TaoTronics
Defrost Mode Active / Coil Defrosting
Dehumidifier displays P1 and does not start dehumidifying

Possible Causes
Evaporator temperature below defrost threshold, Low room temperature, Restricted airflow causing coil icing, Faulty evaporator sensor reading low
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: On many TaoTronics dehumidifiers, P1 is an informational code indicating automatic defrost mode, not a fault.
Steps:
- Allow defrost cycle: Leave the unit powered on. The compressor will stop while the fan may continue to run to melt ice from the evaporator. Once the coil warms, normal operation should resume and P1 will clear.
- Check room temperature: If the room is below about 41–50°F (5–10°C), move the unit to a warmer area. Dehumidifiers are not effective in cold spaces and will frequently enter defrost.
- Clean filter and ensure airflow: A clogged filter or blocked intake/exhaust can cause excessive icing. Clean the filter and maintain clearance around the unit.
- If P1 never clears: Inspect the evaporator sensor placement and wiring. A sensor stuck reading very low temperature may keep the unit in defrost. Replace the evaporator NTC temperature sensor if necessary.
