Possible Causes
Open or shorted ambient temperature sensor (NTC), Damaged sensor harness, Corroded sensor connector on main PCB, Failed main control board sensor input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dehumidifier before removing any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to power.
- Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in and try again. Sometimes E1 can be triggered by a temporary logic fault.
- Check sensor wiring: Remove the front or side panel (refer to your TCL model’s service layout). Locate the ambient temperature sensor (usually a small NTC probe clipped near the air intake or evaporator). Inspect the wiring harness for cuts, pinches, or burn marks.
- Inspect connectors: Follow the sensor wires to the main control board. Reseat the connector by unplugging and firmly reconnecting it. Look for corrosion or bent pins.
- Test the sensor (for advanced users): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to TCL’s service chart (typically 5–20 kΩ at room temperature). If it reads open (OL) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is defective.
- Replace the sensor: If wiring is intact and resistance is out of spec, replace the ambient temperature sensor (NTC) with a TCL-compatible part. Route the new sensor along the original path and secure it with clips or ties away from moving parts.
- Control board check: If a known-good sensor still gives E1, the main PCB sensor circuit may be faulty and the board will need replacement.
