Possible Causes
Full water bucket, Misaligned bucket, Stuck float switch, Faulty bucket full sensor or micro-switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn the unit off and unplug before removing the bucket.
- Empty the bucket: Carefully slide out the water bucket and empty it completely. Rinse to remove any sludge or debris that may interfere with the float.
- Check bucket placement: Reinstall the bucket firmly, ensuring it is fully seated and flush with the front of the unit. Many TCL models have a small tab or magnet that must align with a sensor.
- Inspect float mechanism: Look inside the bucket for a float assembly. Make sure it moves freely up and down and is not stuck by mineral buildup. Clean with warm water and mild detergent.
- Check bucket switch: With the bucket removed and the unit unplugged, locate the bucket full micro-switch or magnetic reed switch inside the cabinet. Ensure it is not broken or loose.
- Test switch (advanced): Use a multimeter to check continuity of the bucket switch when actuated. Replace the switch if it does not change state.
- Continuous drain option: If using a drain hose, ensure the hose is not kinked and that the bucket is still properly installed, as some models require the bucket in place even when draining continuously.
