Possible Causes

Open or shorted evaporator thermistor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Damaged sensor harness or connector, Failed main control board sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before opening the cabinet. Coil fins are sharp; wear gloves.

Steps:

  • Access the evaporator: Remove the front cover and air filter. On most Tosot dehumidifiers, the evaporator coil is directly behind the filter.
  • Find the sensor: Look for a small probe or clip-on sensor attached to the evaporator tubing or fins with two wires leading to the control board.
  • Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped to the coil. If it has fallen off, reattach it securely so it senses coil temperature correctly.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the PCB. Check for cuts, pinches, or corrosion. Reseat the connector on the board.
  • Test resistance: With the unit unplugged, measure resistance across the sensor leads. Compare to the ambient sensor; it should be in a similar kΩ range at room temperature. An open or shorted reading indicates a bad sensor.
  • Replace sensor: If faulty, install a new evaporator temperature sensor (coil NTC thermistor) compatible with your Tosot model.
  • Board diagnosis: If a new sensor does not clear E2, the main PCB may be defective and require replacement.
