Possible Causes

Failed compressor start relay or PTC, Shorted compressor winding, Faulty main PCB power relay, Undersized or unstable mains voltage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit. High voltage is present around the compressor and power board; if you are not experienced with electrical work, contact a technician.

Steps:

  • Check mains supply: Ensure the unit is connected to a properly grounded outlet with the correct voltage specified on the rating plate. Avoid extension cords.
  • Listen for compressor: When the unit tries to start, listen for a brief hum followed by a click. Repeated clicking without running suggests start component issues.
  • Inspect start components: Access the compressor terminal cover. Check the start relay/PTC and overload protector for burn marks or loose connections.
  • Test compressor windings: With power disconnected, remove the relay and measure resistance between compressor terminals (C-R, C-S, R-S). Infinite or zero readings indicate a bad compressor.
  • Replace start relay/PTC: If the compressor windings test OK, replace the start relay/PTC with a compatible Trotec part.
  • PCB relay check: If the compressor never receives power, the main PCB relay may be faulty and require board replacement.
