Possible Causes
Blocked fan wheel, Failed fan motor, Loose fan connector, Faulty fan speed feedback sensor or circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before working near the fan. Beware of sharp plastic blades.
Steps:
- Check for obstructions: Remove the front/rear cover and inspect the fan wheel for debris, cable ties, or insulation blocking rotation. Remove any obstruction.
- Spin test: Gently spin the fan by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. Stiff or noisy movement indicates worn bearings.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the fan motor wires to the main PCB. Ensure the connector is fully seated and not burnt.
- Power test (advanced): With the unit reassembled and powered, observe whether the fan attempts to start. If it hums but does not spin, the motor is likely faulty.
- Replace fan motor: If the motor is seized or not receiving proper feedback, replace the fan motor assembly with the correct Trotec part.
- PCB issue: If a new fan motor does not resolve E8, the fan drive circuit on the main PCB may be defective and require board replacement.
