Possible Causes

Defective electronic water level sensor, Mineral buildup on level sensor electrodes, Disconnected or damaged level sensor wiring, Faulty level detection circuit on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit and remove the water tank before inspection.

  • Check water level: Ensure the water reservoir is correctly seated and filled to the recommended level. Some Venta units will show E3 if the tank is not properly positioned.
  • Clean the level sensor: Locate the water level sensor in the base (often metal pins or a float with a reed switch). Remove mineral deposits with a soft brush and a 1:1 mixture of white vinegar and water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Inspect float (if equipped): If your Venta uses a float, verify that it moves freely and is not stuck by scale or debris. Clean the float chamber and ensure the magnet is intact.
  • Check wiring: With the unit unplugged, inspect the harness from the level sensor to the main PCB. Make sure connectors are fully seated and wires are not broken or pinched.
  • Test sensor: If you have a multimeter, test continuity of a float switch or resistance of an electronic sensor according to the service data. Replace the water level sensor assembly if readings are out of spec.
  • Control board: If a new sensor does not clear E3, the level detection circuit on the main control PCB may be defective and require replacement by a technician.
