Possible Causes
Locked or failed compressor, Faulty compressor start relay or PTC, Open thermal overload on compressor, Defective main control PCB relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Work on compressor circuits only if you are trained; mains voltage is present.
- Listen for compressor: When the unit calls for dehumidification, listen for a low humming sound from the compressor. If you hear repeated clicking or buzzing without starting, there may be a start component issue.
- Check ventilation: Ensure the unit has adequate space around it and is not overheating.
- Inspect start components: With power disconnected, access the compressor terminal cover. Check the PTC start relay and overload protector for signs of burning or cracking. Replace if damaged.
- Measure compressor windings: Using a multimeter, check resistance between compressor terminals according to service data. If windings are open or shorted, the compressor is defective.
- Control board: If the compressor never receives power, the compressor relay on the main control PCB may have failed and require replacement.
- Sealed system: Compressor replacement and refrigerant handling must be done by a certified refrigeration technician.
