Possible Causes
Room temperature below operating range, Defective defrost sensor reading too low, Fan not moving enough air across coil, Control board misinterpreting sensor data
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before defrosting ice manually.
- Check room temperature: Ensure the dehumidifier is used within the specified ambient temperature (typically above 5–10°C / 41–50°F). Move it to a warmer room if necessary.
- Defrost the coil: Turn the unit off and allow all ice on the evaporator to melt completely. Place towels to catch water.
- Clean filter and fan: A dirty filter or weak fan can cause icing. Clean the air filter and check that the fan runs at full speed.
- Inspect defrost sensor: Verify that the defrost NTC sensor is properly attached to the evaporator coil and wiring is intact. Replace the defrost NTC sensor if readings are incorrect.
- Persistent F6: If F6 continues in a warm room with a good sensor and airflow, the main control PCB may be misreading temperatures and require replacement.
